When we are hurried and worried. When we feel like we are in a rut – like Groundhog Day, same thing over and over and the signs say that its gonna be this way for quite some time. When the change we desperately desire seems so far off we can barely see it. When everyone around us doesn’t seem to notice this quiet panic we are in – they are all preoccupied with their own needs and in their own quiet panic. Or, as Kipling says in his famous poem, you are trying to keep your head, “when all about you are losing theirs and blaming it on you.” When it seems like there is too much to do and not enough time to do it. Take a few moments, right where you are and…
Remember that in the beginning God fashioned a human body and breathed into him, and mankind became a living soul.
Breathe…and feel the serenity of the Spirit of God slowly saturate your mind.
Breathe…and notice the invigorating infusion of oxygen into your lungs then feeding your whole body.
Breathe…and feel the warmth of the Creator’s air, like a Caribbean wind, melt away the stress that has invaded your neck and shoulders.
Breathe…and watch the inside of your eyelids block out the distractions of the world around you while filtering in soft light.
Breathe…inhaling fresh air and exhaling the toxic stress, anxiety, and negativity.
Breathe…and remember you don’t need anything else to do this. You don’t need money. You don’t need to be in a special place. All you need right now, in this moment, is God.
And just like your Creator gave you the capacity and the power to breathe, God will give you what you need to handle the rest of this life that began with divine breath.
