A Prayer for Spring
The time that we have been looking forward to all winter is beginning. The sun is coming out more frequently now. We are outdoors. People are walking. Birds are chirping. The grass has soaked in the rains and is now reflecting the sun’s rays. We see green lawns, blue skies, yellow dandelions. Our mood is improving. Young people are dressing up and showing out at the prom. Graduates are throwing caps in the air and moving on, moving up. It’s spring. And we are thankful. God is not hiding.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, we honor and worship You because we are reminded that YOU ARE FAITHFUL. Long, long ago, you set the universe in motion, commanding the earth to spin and rotate. You designed this world to have seasons – Seasons of warmth and leisure; seasons of work and harvest; seasons of cold and rest; and seasons of new growth and reset. We thank you that we are entering this season of new growth and reset. And we ask that you help us to shake off feelings of frustration. Help us, dear Lord, to shake off the bad news of the past and embrace the new opportunities that You are setting before us. Help us to recognize that the seasons are changing and discern the divine movements around us. Help us to ignore the voices who scream all day about what is wrong so that we can hear the beautiful melodies of your angels as they sing “Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God Almighty, the whole earth is full of His glory!” (Isaiah 6:3) Help us, Lord, to witness and appreciate Your glory. In Christ name we pray, Amen.
